Schroth & Lorenson Jewelers sells a full line of jewelry.  Whether you’re looking for an engagement ring, fashion jewelry with colored stones or pearls, we only carry the finest selection of all!  We also have a large collection of sterling silver jewelry, wedding gifts, frames, engravable gifts and jewelry boxes.


The store was established in 1974 by father and son, Ralph and Richard Lorenson, on Beechwood Road in Summit.  They moved around the corner to their current location at 446 Springfield Ave. in 1979.  Rich Foley, who joined the team in 2012, has been in the jewelry industry since 1975.  He took over the reins in the Fall of 2016.


Schroth & Lorenson Jewelers is a member of the Independent Jewelers Organization.  IJO jewelers are an elite group of independent jewelry retailers, hand selected for membership and the largest jewelry buying group in the world.  IJO is an organization which only accepts jewelers with the highest ethical standard and superior professional integrity.

Locally, our store is a member of the Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Summit Downtown Inc., an organization dedicated to keeping the town’s shopping district vital and bringing new businesses to the area.

The organization also allows us to buy directly from the cutters through their offices in Antwerp, Belgium, the diamond capital of the world.

Through IJO, Schroth and Lorenson can buy directly from diamond cutters in Antwerp, Belgium. We will even make the trip overseas to act as your broker and hand select your diamond from the vast inventory at their disposal. The Independent Jewelers Organization itself is an organization focused on continuing education, offering seminars on both Gemology and Industry Trends, which promote consumer protection. IJO's GIA Title Program is a comprehensive gemological and business education program available to us.

Members have the opportunity to attend two trade shows a year where our top manufacturers exhibit the latest fashions in fine jewelry. We also have the opportunity to attend many educational seminars and to discuss with other members better ways to serve you, our clients.

Rich Foley - Owner

Rich comes to Schroth & Lorenson with extensive experience having worked in the industry since 1975. The knowledge of estate jewelry, watches and quality diamonds are his expertise. Rich is the one to talk to about appraisals, watch repairs and that special piece of jewelry you are looking for.

Stephen Connell - Service Department Manager

Steve is the newest team member to Schroth & Lorenson.  Steve brings with him over 30 ears of retail experience.  Starting in the jewelry industry in 1986 as a bench jeweler, he brings expertise to our store in the area of jewelry repair, stone setting, diamond grading and estate jewelry.  Steve and Rich have a 25 year history of working together in the industry providing quality service and customer support.  If you need a stone reset, idea for jewelry design or a simple repair question, Steve is the guy to talk too.

Wendy Couphos - Sales Associate

Wendy has been with us since 2010 as a part-time associate. With a degree in Fines Arts, her creativity fits in nicely with case arrangements and store displays.
