The store was established in 1974 by father and son, Ralph and Richard Lorenson, on Beechwood Road in Summit. They moved around the corner to their current location at 446 Springfield Ave. in 1979. Rich Foley, who joined the team in 2012, has been in the jewelry industry since 1975. He took over the reins in the Fall of 2016.
Schroth & Lorenson Jewelers is a member of the Independent Jewelers Organization. IJO jewelers are an elite group of independent jewelry retailers, hand selected for membership and the largest jewelry buying group in the world. IJO is an organization which only accepts jewelers with the highest ethical standard and superior professional integrity.
Locally, our store is a member of the Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Summit Downtown Inc., an organization dedicated to keeping the town’s shopping district vital and bringing new businesses to the area.

The organization also allows us to buy directly from the cutters through their offices in Antwerp, Belgium, the diamond capital of the world.
Through IJO, Schroth and Lorenson can buy directly from diamond cutters in Antwerp, Belgium. We will even make the trip overseas to act as your broker and hand select your diamond from the vast inventory at their disposal. The Independent Jewelers Organization itself is an organization focused on continuing education, offering seminars on both Gemology and Industry Trends, which promote consumer protection. IJO's GIA Title Program is a comprehensive gemological and business education program available to us.
Members have the opportunity to attend two trade shows a year where our top manufacturers exhibit the latest fashions in fine jewelry. We also have the opportunity to attend many educational seminars and to discuss with other members better ways to serve you, our clients.

Rich and Donna have owned Schroth & Lorenson Jewelers since 2013. They are a dynamic team, each with their own unique talents and skills. Their business and life partnership make Schroth & Lorenson a family oriented, neighborhood business that is eager to meet your every need. Rich has been in the jewelry industry since 1975 and is GIA certified. His knowledge of estate jewelry, watches, and quality diamonds is unparalleled. He knows no stranger and loves the challenge of creating your perfect piece.
Donna, has been working in the retail jewelry industry since 2013. She brings more than 20 years of accounting and business experience with her to keep the back office running smoothly. Her exquisite taste and ability to keep up with the latest trends make her the perfect person to ensure the store cases are full of both classic and cutting edge treasures. Above all else, her passion is working one on one with customers daily.
Rich and Donna are proud parents of two grown children; a daughter who is a business executive in the pharmaceutical industry and a son who is a 2nd Lieutenant the U.S. Marine Corp.
Carolyn is the newest member of the team having joined us in the spring of 2021. She comes to us with a long corporate career specializing in customer service, business processes & operations, and computer applications. Carolyn is enjoying the neighborhood feel to the store and the customers who seem like family. When not on the sales floor, Carolyn is excited to be applying her business operations and automation skills to our small business.
